Taiwan Travelogue: Taipei Day 2

[21st October 2013]

 photo P9211939.jpg

It rained the whole night on the previous day. Woke up at between 9 - 10am-ish, feeling super cold. Packed our luggage because we're switching to other hostel for our stay, and was told that the hostel room we'll be switching to is Hello Kitty themed, and I was super excited upon hearing it. Haha!

OHYAH! The hostel owner was kind enough to let us leave our luggage there with them, and they'll transfer it to the other hostel for us! Talking about good service!!! :D

We then head to KFC hoping to have breakfast, but sadly, they've already changed to lunch menu already. I was a tad sad though. Hahah!

 photo P9211943.jpg

Did I mention that Taiwan people have a very good service?! It was a far cry compared to Singapore. Tsktsk.

Took a photo of Taipei Crazy House (瘋閣公寓) Namecard!
Just incase you guys are interested, you can contact the hostel owner! :D

After having our breakfast, I went to shop for gifts and then took a OOTD shot before heading to the metro station for our next destination.

Knowing that its a Saturday, and I have unlimited data usage, how can I forget to watch my ever favourite ANTM?! Hahaha!

And frankly speaking, the connection at Taiwan is awesome! No lagging and it loads super fast! I watched my ANTM without having to stop and wait for it to stream at all! Even when taking the metro underground!!!

Here's our itinerary for Day 2 by the way. 1st stop, to Wu Fen Pu (五分埔) at HouShanPi station, then to Rao He Night Market (饒河街觀光夜市) after that. After all the shopping then its time to check in to our Kitty Room at night. :D

 photo P9222041.jpg

 photo P9222048.jpg

Do note that Wu Fen Pu have opening and closing hours! So yea, if you go too early, there might not have anything for you to shop. We went there around 2pm-ish and not all the shops were open yet. So its better to go around 3 to 4pm, then after you're done shopping at Wu Fen Pu, you can head straight to Rao He night market for some nomnoms!!!

Reached HouShanPu Station and we walked all the way there.

 photo P9211977.jpg

It rained while we were shopping and it sort of ruined our mood, because shopping with rain dripping down is not fun at all!!!

 photo P9211997.jpg

Didn't really take photos when we're shopping at Wu Fen Pu as it was raining (bad for my camera) and I'm engrossed with shopping! Hahah! The clothes over there are DIRT CHEAP! I got 4 shorts at 1000 NTD, which is about $12 SGD for one???

Where can you get a guy shorts for $12 SGD?!!! They were selling it 2 for 500 NTD btw.

Night markets "usually" open at around 6pm in the evening. So after shopping at Wu Fen Pu till around 5.30pm, we slowly make our way to Rao He Street Night Market.

My super hardworking friend navigating the way for us! :D

Walked and walked and walked! Finally, we reached Rao He Street Night Market (饒河街觀光夜市)

 photo P9212009.jpg

When we reached, not all the shops were open yet, so we thought maybe we're early or something, so we decided to have a light dinner at some restaurant. But to our horror! It rained (again) and very LITTLE, and I really mean VERY LITTLE stalls were open! My friend was in extreme disappointment. LOLOLOL!!!

Adding on to our horror, the rain got heavier when we're making our way back to the metro station. Soon, we were hit by a mini "typhoon"

The umbrella that my friend bought from a local umbrella shop broked! It was blown by the strong wind, and I wanted to bring it back, but the handle part broke! Haha! But it was a great experience. LOLOLOL!

Later then, my friend bought another umbrella from 7 Eleven for 99 NTD. But the wind was too strong, thus we are just a traffic light away from the metro station shelter. So the "DAREDEVIL" me, ran across when it hit the green man. I mean, whether I ran or not, I'm still gonna get soaked anyways. LOL!!!

AT NIGHT, WHEN WE REACHED XI MEN TING.
We then check in to our Hello Kitty Hostel Themed Room. It was...... a disappointment as compared to our previous room. But oh wells, its still cute.... Hahaha!

 photo P9212016.jpg

Everything was in Hello Kitty! I even did a instavideo of it! Hahaha! While I was instavideo-ing, my friend said I was crazy! LOLOLOL!!!

Here's the painting of the room!
With a BIG Hello Kitty!

The bathroom, and the toilet bowl cover "imprinted" with a Hello Kitty on it! Kitty fans, doing their business will definitely feel happy! LOLOLOL!!!

[20th September 2013]

 photo P9201780.jpg

Met up with my friends at Changi Airport Terminal 1 and stayed in the airport overnight till we can check in at around 5am. Our flight is at 7am++ btw.

Was FAMISHED! So we had Buger King for dinner/supper.

 photo P9201778.jpg

Well, we had HOURS before we can check in our luggage, so I took this time to take some OOTD shots. Hahaha! TOTALLY AYG! LOLOLOL!

 photo P9201786.jpg

 photo P9201788.jpg photo P9201790.jpg

And here's the amount of stuff I've packed in my hand carry. Hahaha! I put a whole packet of tissues because I have this thing whereby I will have running nose whenever I'm on a plane. So yeap! Precaution is better than cure! :D

 photo P9201795.jpg

Around 4.30am-ish, we then prepared and walked all the way to Terminal 1 check in counter to check in our luggage. Then we had our breakfast at McDonalds.

MY TRAVEL BUDDIES/COMPANIONS FOR THIS TRIP!
WITH LE AWESOME FRIENDS :D

Everyone looking super shagged because its a morning flight.
~.~

READY TO CHECK IN AND BOARD THE FLIGHT! :D
I don't know if I'm yawning when I'm taking this shot, but it looks good though! Hahaha!

AFTER A LONG 4 TO 4 HOURS FLIGHT. WE'VE FINALLY REACHED TAIWAN, TAIPEI (台灣, 台北)
SOOOO BEAUTIFUL! I'm super excited and was practically screaming in excite!!! and was smiling to myself when the plane was preparing for landing.

 photo P9201842.jpg

Here's our itinerary for Day 1 of Taiwan btw! My friend is super awesome to note down every single detail of what we need to do! :D

 photo P9222040.jpg

Reached at about 12pm++. When we alight, we had to pass through the custom and get our passport chopped before we can cross over the boarders and pick up our luggage.

 photo P9201853.jpg

After collecting our luggages, the first thing we did was to buy their 3G + Data Micro Sim Card. Hahaha! For a social media whore like me, I can't live a day without the internet. I bought the 7 days unlimited data usage and 150 NTD Credits Micro Sim Card for 500 NTD. Do take note, they only sell sim cards for iPhones and Android Mobile Phones. So nokia and blackberry users, do take note yea! :D

 photo P9201858.jpg

After getting our 3G Micro Sim Card, we then headed down 1 level to get our bus tickets to Taipei Main Station.

 photo P9201859.jpg

The bus ticket costs 125 NTD, so its about $5 SGD. The interval for buses arriving is about 10 - 15 minutes, so do take note, if you're dying of hunger, you can go to the convenience store located near the bus interchange to get some snacks before boarding the bus. :D

 photo P9201861.jpg

Before boarding the bus, the bus captain would have to check your tickets before allowing you to put your luggage and board the bus.

 photo P9201862.jpg

MY UBER CHIO NAILS THANKS TO MYNT! :D

 photo P9201866.jpg

Reached Taipei Main Station and bought their Easy Card, which is similar to our Singapore's very own EZ Link Card. Had to pay 200 NTD which is around $20 SGD, 100 NTD Deposit and 100 NTD Credits to use.

Took Blue Line Train (Towards BanQiao, YongNing) to Xi Men Station.

 photo P9201880.jpg

Reached Xi Men train station and alighted there, walked out of exit 6, and we're at the entrance of 西門町. My friends and I are staying at 2 different hostels which I will be talking about in the later posts of my Taiwan Travelogue. Met up with the hostel owner and he brought us to the first hostel that we'll be staying for the night.

Taipei Crazy House!

The hostel owner was super nice to give me and my friend a 3 person's room. Hahaha! While the girls get a 2 person's room. Hahaha!

The hostel was so awesome, I just had to instavideo it down! Hahah!

The first few parts you see is the corridor of the hostel, and the last 2 part is my room! :D
The room is super small and cozy, perfect for couples, and at a perfect height (according to my friend). Haha!

The painting of the room is awesome too! I couldn't stop "WAAAAA-ING" from the moment I stepped into the room.

 photo P9201897.jpg

There's a queen sized bed and a single bed, obviously YOURSTRULY took the queen sized one! HAHAHAHA!!!

 photo P9201895.jpg

 photo P9201891.jpg

After checking out our room, done bathing and etc. We then head off to Shilin Night Market (士林夜市). Took the red line to Jiantan Station (劍潭).

SEE! I told you my friend is super hardworking!!! He even print out the map location and all! Felt extremely safe with him around!! ^.^

 photo P9222047.jpg

Wore slippers and really regretted! It rained at the later part of our trip and my feet hurts from all the walking. So my advise to everyone who's going to night markets or traveling. NEVER WEAR SLIPPERS!!!

 photo P9201904.jpg

Walked around Shilin Night Market, and all I bought is food! Hahah! Had their famous Ah Zhong Mian Xian, and Sa Niao Chicken Cutlet! Both costs less than 100 NTD (Individually)! Darn cheap!!!

 photo P9201909.jpg

It rained, and my feet hurts from wall the walking, so we then head back to our hostel, but before that, I was craving for McDonalds, so yeap! Bought the 2 piece chicken meal, and I had quite a difficulty ordering, mainly because Taiwan people speaks Chinese, and my Chinese is 1/2 bucket one! :(

AND THAT'S IT FOR MY TAIWAN TRAVELOGUE DAY 1!
HOPE YOU'VE ENJOYED READING IT! :D
