Japan Visuals Day 1

Hello There. It's the eve of CNY Eve. Everyone's doing their last minute shopping CNY this coming week and that includes me as well. So to keep this space alive, I'm going to post some of the Japan photos that I took way back in 2009 where I went for a school exchange programme during my ITE Nitec year. Photos are all taken using my old Canon Powershot E1 camera. :)

We took a midnight flight over to Japan so it took us half a day to get to our destination.

[8th & 9th December 2009]

Upon reaching Narita International Airport, we still have to take a 1hour plane ride to our destination. And did I mention that it was FREEEEEEEZING when we touched down at the airport?!?!?! BRRRRR!!!

IMG_0759

First thing we did when we touched down at our destination was to have our lunch at some local restaurant. Then after that, we went for a tea appreciation ceremony held at a local place where its kinda formal. LOL! Its my first time drinking authentic green tea, and we were given a sweet to munch cuz apparently the green tea is REALLY BITTER. The sweet is used to sweeten our tastebuds a little.

After the tea appreciation ceremony, we then checked into the first hotel that we'll be staying in. FYI we changed quite a number of hotels due to the places and locations we'll be going for the following days. So anyways, after we checked in to our hotel, we quickly changed and headed out for our dinner.

You know I have this "THING" for McDonald's. Like every country that I go to, I'll definitely try the McDonald's there. So without any hesitation, I went off to buy McDonald's for supper before heading back to our hotel. LOL!! When ordering, I had so much difficulty cuz the people there don't really speak English. So I have to depend on my communicating skills by pointing to the cashier the menu of the things I want to order.

That sums up my first day in Japan. More visuals will be up soon. :)

Isn't it fast? Its already the 23rd of January. Soon it will be the Chinese New Year. Speaking of CNY, I recently bought something from OSF and I LOVED IT!!! This year I will be trying out Culottes and a pullover. I tried matching it this morning I think its okay. Haha!!!

Lucky me, I managed to pull out 3 outfits for this year's CNY and I can't wait to post it on Instagram already!!!

XX
A few weeks back, I went out with my friends for lunch/dinner and I decide to wear my Military Jacket despite the humid weather. Many commented that my singlet looked like an Uncle singlet. :((((( Hahahaha! But anyways, its a relatively cheap one that I got it from H&M for only $9.90.

Shoes and Bag are the usual. Nowadays I'm so packed from my army schedule that its really wearing me out. There are times that I would feel so tired that I really just wanna continue laying on my bed. :(

This week, I completed my Navigation course which is a part of the Combat Skills Badge test. Thank god I have my section commanders with me. They're so fun and I really enjoyed my time with them. And there's still more tests to come. River Crossing, 32km route march, 10km run, and etc. The thought of it is just...... But nevertheless, I believe when the time comes, I'll still be able to pull through one la. LOLOLOL!!!

Bangkok Travelogue (Day 1)

Hello there everyone!!!  I've finally transferred, edit and uploaded all my Bangkok photos.

I'm really really excited for this trip with the blogger friends I've met 4 - 5 years ago that we now affectionately call each other "Cousins*".

The planning for the trip was tedious, we had quite a bit of conflict in between but we got everything settled in the end.

A P4040752_副本

Waited for a cab around 1.30pm - 2pm, and it was drizzling at that point of time. Really hate the fact that when you're not waiting for any cabs, they're there!!! LIKE THERE!!! And when you're waiting for one. NONE OF THEM ARE OF SIGHT!!!

P/S: I will never forget the Kway Chap stall uncle from the coffee shop across my the street stole my cab! _|_

A P4040754_副本

Arrived at Changi Airport, waited for the rest to arrive and also went to NTUC to get contact lens solution and some bites. While I'm on my way there, I saw KEEKHIMAOOOO!

YEAP! She's currently doing her internship at Changi Airport. "LORD PRAY FOR EVERYONE'S SAFETY!!"

A P4040757_副本

Our flight was around 5pm, and we checked in our luggage around 3pm+++ (Its better to be kiasu abit when it comes to things like this) LOLOLOLOL!!!

A P4040771_副本

Had Mcdonald's inside the departure hall. Cuz the rest were like saying you can always come Changi Airport eat but not inside the departure hall. But still.... I end up eating Mcdonald's. BUT THANK GOD I DID!!! Cuz 1 fried kway teow costs $7 !!!! SIAO ONE! DAYLIGHT ROBBERY SIA!!!

A P4040779_副本

With Yourapplepie and Kaizhi while we're on the travelator to departure gate.

This is the first time ever Kaizhi is going overseas with us. I mean, he seldom hang out with us and the age gap is so huge. But I'm glad that he could make it and join us for this trip. SO AWESOMEZXZX!

A P4040790_副本

Took a group photo on the plane before we flew off. Kaizhi wasn't in the photo because he book the seat that has extra leg space, and he ended up seating super far away from us.

Top left to right: Andy, Jiaqi, Amanda, Meldric
Bottom left to right: Yourstruly, Angie, Ruoxuan, Weijie

Mentioned all the names just so you know who I'm talking about when you're reading this whole travelogue. Hahahaha!

When we arrived, some of us bought data sim cards so that we'll stay contactable at all times via whatsapp
(Technology nowadays....) Hahahaha!

We bought the data sim cards for 299 Baht btw, and it costs like $10 - $12 SGD??? Depending on the exchange rates. The data sim card that we bought as unlimited internet usage so yea, you need not be afraid of losing connection from the world anymore. :)

A P4040807_副本

The ticket buying machine works exactly the same as our Singapore MRT ticketing machine la, so its pretty easy to use. Selected our destination and paid 40 Baht for it. Which is like??? $1.50 SGD??!!!

Took the Airport link subway to Ratchaprarop Station. Had to walk a bit of a distance to our hotel though...

A P4040817_副本

The cool thing about that token. It works exactly the same as our SG's EZ-Link card. First when you are entering the gantry. You tap it. YES! TAP IT! And when you're exiting the gantry, you just insert it into the coin slot. SUPER COOL!!!!

A P4040825_副本

Reached "The 93 Hotel" after making detours around.

When we reach Bangkok it was around 8pm++??? So there wasn't much stuff for us to do. So after checking in to our hotel, we then rest a little bit before heading out for dinner/supper.

I must say, for the price that we paid for, its really worth it!!!

I shared a room with Angie, and on the 2nd day, Joyce will be joining us and adding an extra bed. Divided among us 3, me and Angie (who stayed for 4 Days 3 Nights) paid around $100SGD??? Which I find that its really reasonable.

The aircon is cold enough, room is spacious, and bathroom is not ulu ulu kind.Perfect for taking a long shower or doing your business inside.

A P4040861_副本

Took a quick shower cuz I feel sticky and dirty. LOLOL! After that, we all head out for dinner/supper nearby central world.

They have a lot of "ZI CHAR" stall over there. But I feel that most of them sells similar stuff, so it doesn't really make a difference of which stall you eat at.

Split ourselves to 2 tables. Ruoxuan, Meldric, Weijie, Amanda, Kaizhi to one. Me, Andy, Jiaqi and Angie to another. Its easier this way I guess? Cuz they ordered beers and such and the ones that don't drink = US, we bo bian separate from them loooo. Hahaha!

A P4040912_副本

This is what we (Angie, Me, Andy, and Jiaqi) ordered. all for 800++ Baht. And its only $30 SGD?!!! Where can you get a $30 SGD "ZI CHAR" IN SINGAPORE???!!! THIS IS HEAVEN!!!!

After our scrumptious dinner/supper. We then walk around the area in search of more food. But to our disappointment, most of the stalls were already closed for the day. So yeap. For alternatives, yours truly bought Mcdonald's instead. Hahahaha!!!

I have this thing that whichever country I go to, its a MUST to try their Mcdonald's!!! Or maybe its just me?!! LOLOLOLOL!!!

A P4050920_副本

P/S: Pardon me for my pillow in the photo above ^^

Mcdonald's Family Meal that costs 199 Baht, or is it 299 Baht??? I can't really remember! Either ways, its still cheap!!!

They have quite a number of different family combos though. I chose the cheaper one cuz I just want to try it. So yea. It has 2 Fried Chicken, 4 McDrumSticks and additional 1 piece chicken that comes in a paper bag. LOL?!!!

and 2 regular coke of course!

This pretty much sums up my first day at Bangkok! Hope you guys have enjoyed reading it. Till the next post!

Taiwan Travelogue: Prologue, Taipei Day 1

[20th September 2013]

 photo P9201780.jpg

Met up with my friends at Changi Airport Terminal 1 and stayed in the airport overnight till we can check in at around 5am. Our flight is at 7am++ btw.

Was FAMISHED! So we had Buger King for dinner/supper.

 photo P9201778.jpg

Well, we had HOURS before we can check in our luggage, so I took this time to take some OOTD shots. Hahaha! TOTALLY AYG! LOLOLOL!

 photo P9201786.jpg

 photo P9201788.jpg photo P9201790.jpg

And here's the amount of stuff I've packed in my hand carry. Hahaha! I put a whole packet of tissues because I have this thing whereby I will have running nose whenever I'm on a plane. So yeap! Precaution is better than cure! :D

 photo P9201795.jpg

Around 4.30am-ish, we then prepared and walked all the way to Terminal 1 check in counter to check in our luggage. Then we had our breakfast at McDonalds.

MY TRAVEL BUDDIES/COMPANIONS FOR THIS TRIP!
WITH LE AWESOME FRIENDS :D

Everyone looking super shagged because its a morning flight.
~.~

 photo P9201801.jpg

READY TO CHECK IN AND BOARD THE FLIGHT! :D
I don't know if I'm yawning when I'm taking this shot, but it looks good though! Hahaha!

 photo P9201811.jpg

 photo P9201813.jpg

AFTER A LONG 4 TO 4 HOURS FLIGHT. WE'VE FINALLY REACHED TAIWAN, TAIPEI (台灣, 台北)
SOOOO BEAUTIFUL! I'm super excited and was practically screaming in excite!!! and was smiling to myself when the plane was preparing for landing.

 photo P9201842.jpg

Here's our itinerary for Day 1 of Taiwan btw! My friend is super awesome to note down every single detail of what we need to do! :D

 photo P9222040.jpg

Reached at about 12pm++. When we alight, we had to pass through the custom and get our passport chopped before we can cross over the boarders and pick up our luggage.

 photo P9201853.jpg

After collecting our luggages, the first thing we did was to buy their 3G + Data Micro Sim Card. Hahaha! For a social media whore like me, I can't live a day without the internet. I bought the 7 days unlimited data usage and 150 NTD Credits Micro Sim Card for 500 NTD. Do take note, they only sell sim cards for iPhones and Android Mobile Phones. So nokia and blackberry users, do take note yea! :D

 photo P9201858.jpg

After getting our 3G Micro Sim Card, we then headed down 1 level to get our bus tickets to Taipei Main Station.

 photo P9201859.jpg

The bus ticket costs 125 NTD, so its about $5 SGD. The interval for buses arriving is about 10 - 15 minutes, so do take note, if you're dying of hunger, you can go to the convenience store located near the bus interchange to get some snacks before boarding the bus. :D

 photo P9201861.jpg

Before boarding the bus, the bus captain would have to check your tickets before allowing you to put your luggage and board the bus.

 photo P9201862.jpg

MY UBER CHIO NAILS THANKS TO MYNT! :D

 photo P9201866.jpg

Reached Taipei Main Station and bought their Easy Card, which is similar to our Singapore's very own EZ Link Card. Had to pay 200 NTD which is around $20 SGD, 100 NTD Deposit and 100 NTD Credits to use.

Took Blue Line Train (Towards BanQiao, YongNing) to Xi Men Station.

 photo P9201880.jpg

Reached Xi Men train station and alighted there, walked out of exit 6, and we're at the entrance of 西門町. My friends and I are staying at 2 different hostels which I will be talking about in the later posts of my Taiwan Travelogue. Met up with the hostel owner and he brought us to the first hostel that we'll be staying for the night.

Taipei Crazy House!
More details, you can visit: http://tw.myblog.yahoo.com/taipeicrazyhouse/

The hostel owner was super nice to give me and my friend a 3 person's room. Hahaha! While the girls get a 2 person's room. Hahaha!

The hostel was so awesome, I just had to instavideo it down! Hahah!

The first few parts you see is the corridor of the hostel, and the last 2 part is my room! :D
The room is super small and cozy, perfect for couples, and at a perfect height (according to my friend). Haha!

The painting of the room is awesome too! I couldn't stop "WAAAAA-ING" from the moment I stepped into the room.

 photo P9201897.jpg

There's a queen sized bed and a single bed, obviously YOURSTRULY took the queen sized one! HAHAHAHA!!!

 photo P9201895.jpg

 photo P9201891.jpg

After checking out our room, done bathing and etc. We then head off to Shilin Night Market (士林夜市). Took the red line to Jiantan Station (劍潭).

SEE! I told you my friend is super hardworking!!! He even print out the map location and all! Felt extremely safe with him around!! ^.^

 photo P9222047.jpg

Wore slippers and really regretted! It rained at the later part of our trip and my feet hurts from all the walking. So my advise to everyone who's going to night markets or traveling. NEVER WEAR SLIPPERS!!!

 photo P9201904.jpg

Walked around Shilin Night Market, and all I bought is food! Hahah! Had their famous Ah Zhong Mian Xian, and Sa Niao Chicken Cutlet! Both costs less than 100 NTD (Individually)! Darn cheap!!!

 photo P9201917.jpg

 photo P9201908.jpg

 photo P9201910.jpg

 photo P9201909.jpg

It rained, and my feet hurts from wall the walking, so we then head back to our hostel, but before that, I was craving for McDonalds, so yeap! Bought the 2 piece chicken meal, and I had quite a difficulty ordering, mainly because Taiwan people speaks Chinese, and my Chinese is 1/2 bucket one! :(

 photo P9201918.jpg

AND THAT'S IT FOR MY TAIWAN TRAVELOGUE DAY 1!
HOPE YOU'VE ENJOYED READING IT! :D
