Taiwan Travelogue: Taipei Day 3

[22nd October 2013]




Its day 3 now! This is how the boys bed looks like early in the morning! Hahaha!
Had a morning shower, freshen up myself and get ready to start our 3rd day in Taipei! :D




Also, before heading out, we're waiting for the girls to come to our hostel, because they're staying at the first hostel the previous night. So yeap! While waiting for them to arrive, we tune in to our teevo to see what shows are there for us to watch, and BAM! There's Crayon Shinchan! ♥




After the girls came and put their luggages at our room, (because they can only check into their room at a later timing), we then set off to have our breakfast.

Here's our itinerary for day 3! 

Gonna explore the whole of Xi Men Ting for that day :D

Settled our breakfast just opposite our hostel. 

Japanese Curry Omelette Rice! ♥

I find that the price are rather reasonable??? I mean, where can you get a side dish (Chawanmushi), a drink (Coke), and a main dish on average of $6 at a restaurant in Singapore?!!! Excluding McDonalds, KFC's and other fastfood restaurant that is. Hahah!




Made payment after we're done eating, and its time to SHOP!!!! :D




While walking around, we saw an open area concert/fan meet with Raine Yang! HOW LUCKY?!!! But sadly, I didn't get a shot of her. :(

I don't know....

I think I'm losing my neck!!!! I'm depressed! T.T

ANYWAYS!
Walked to the central junction of Xi Men Ting, and we saw another fan meet again, this time round its Popu Lady.
I REMEMBER THEM FROM THE SHENG SIONG SHOW!!!

My friends wanted to go visit the Stay Real store at Xi Men Ting, intially, we had a hard time looking for it, so we just practically anyhow walked around, and somehow we manage to find the shop. MIRACLES DO HAPPEN!!!

We walked around and unknowingly, we found The Modern Toilet Cafe, went to make reservation and we were told that they will call us in 30minutes time as the cafe was full house at the moment. The Modern Toilet Cafe is located at a corner of an alley btw, its quite hidden. So yeap. My mom was telling me that when she went to Taipei, Xi Men Ting, she couldn't find the cafe. :/

So anyways! Here's the map on how to locate the modern toilet cafe! :D

Do take note there's opening and closing hours too yea!!!






So after making our reservation, we walked around the area and less than 15 minutes, we got a call from the cafe telling us there are seats available for us already.




Upon reaching the cafe, we were led to the 3rd level, okay, the cafe wasn't as appealing as expected. It was like toilet themed (DUHHH!) and it sort of like turned me off abit. Hahaha!

Adding on, the menu that was given to us was in CHINESE! FREAKING CHINESE!!!! LOLOLOL! Sorry for the words in CAPS, if you guys know me well, I'm really bad in my Chinese, god knows how I scored an "A" for my Chinese during my N Levels. Hahaha!




Their seat also in toilet bowl form! Beautifully designed that is. Haha!

The food we ordered! :D

We initially wanted to order four of the shaved ice, like 1 for each of us. But when my friend went to make payment, the cashier ask them ARE THEY SURE THEY WANTED TO ORDER 4 OF IT?!!! CUZ THE PORTION IS HUGE!!!!

And so, ended up, they heed the cashier's advice and just ordered 2. Then when the thing came, we were so glad they they didn't order 4 if it!!!

LOOK HOW BIG IT IS!!! AND ITS ONLY $4 SGD (UPON ESTIMATION)




Me and my friend find this quite interesting (ME NOT KNOWING THAT ITS A 尿胡 AT FIRST)

尿胡

A bottle normally for old people or for the disability to pee into it so that they won't need to go through the hassle to visit the toilet.

After I found out that ITS REALLY A 尿胡, I got so disgusted I couldn't finish drinking it! Even if its brand new and clean. The thought of knowing its a 尿胡 just makes me wanna puke! LOLOLOL!




The cashier/place where you make your payment located on the 2nd level of the cafe. Overall I find this place rather interesting, if you happen to visit Taipei, Xi Men Ting, you can pay this place a visit. ONCE, just once will do, because the food is so so only, and you're more of paying for the enjoyment of the atmosphere I guess???

Besides that, the price is really really reasonable and affordable though...




After we're done eating. Its time for shopping again! Walked around Xi Men Ting finding interesting places to shop, or pictures to take.

Their Starbucks over there are very vintage looking. Unlike Singapore. Hahaha!!!




In Taipei, not sure about the other states. The "thing" you'll see most are dogs. I don't know, my friend told me that Taiwan people cared and love their pet dogs alot one! Not sure how true though.

After much walking around, we also visited the Red House, located near exit 1 of Xi Men metro station. Inside the red house, there's shops that sells really really cute stuff!






Then, its near evening, we then had our dinner at Risotto's, because when walking around Xi Men Ting, we keep seeing the golden retriever sitting outside the restaurant. So we decided to settle our dinner there.






I ordered the Shake Hand Combo, which consists of a drink, soup and a bowl of risotto. Quite pricey though IMO.








After having our dinner at Risotto's. We then walked a little bit more, since the night is still young. But not for long though. Hahaha!

Xi Men Ting is especially crowded at night! You can walk around Xi Men Ting at 10pm - 11pm++ and still see people shopping around!

Walked back to our hostel and checked out the girls room! 

Its Venice themed.

Okay la! Still not that bad. Ever since our Hello Kitty room was a tad disappointment as compared to our previous hostel, we don't dare to hold such high expectations anymore. Lololol!

After we're done checking out the girls room, I then went back to my room to shower and wash up, and pack my luggage because the boys (my friend and I) are switching to another room for the remaining days of our stay. Teehee! :D

I was packing my luggage halfway and I was surprised by a birthday cake! OUT OF NOWHERE! Hahaha! My friend gave me an early birthday cake (I think they mixed up my birthday though). Hahaha! But its the thought that counts and I'm really thankful that they still bother to get a birthday cake for me eventhough everyone was really tired already.

After that, we had supper! 

TAIWAN INSTANT NOODLE STYLE!

Their instant noodles are super awesome, they even have REAL meat inside it! What's more, 7 Eleven is just located below our hostel! This being said, this means we had supper almost every single night. Hahaha!

Then, ending the night watching Sailor Moon! CLASSIC SHOW!

Ramen Champion

Was invited to attend a food tasting event on 2nd October at Ramen Champion by Malcolm. Thank you so much for the invite, I really appreciate it. :)

I've never eaten at Ramen Champion before, but I've heard people raving about it, so I've decided to attend this event and try it out myself.




Before the food tasting session, they actually had another event at earlier in the afternoon, which was the qualifying round of the Ramen Big Eater Challenge, I didn't attend the event so I'm unsure of it.

The final round will be held on 14th November 2013 (Thursday), 3pm to 5pm at Ramen Champion Great World City, (1 Kim Seng Promenade, Great World City, #01-21/22, Singapore 237994).

The outlet at Great World City will be officially open on early November 2013 by the way. :)

First, we were served with the appetizer. Prawn Dipping Sauce With Cracker. We couldn't really taste the prawn, but we did taste abit of garlic inside the sauce though, as for the crackers, its just normal crackers.

Price: $4.00

The Ramen came shortly after we have finished our appetizer. The gave us 2 different bowls of Ramen, the one in red bowl is called Tonkotsu-Ramen Champion and the one in black is Special Tonkotsu Ramen, both priced at $16.50. Tonkotsu-Ramen Champion is more well liked by the ladies, but for me, I like the Special Tonkotsu Ramen instead, because I feel that the soup has lesser flavor. I don't know, maybe its just me. Haha!

Adding on, I like Special Tonkotsu Ramen's rich and milky taste! :D

Gyoza

Price: $6.00

Slightly crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside. Initially I thought seafood would be wrapped inside the skin of the Gyoza, but its not, its pork and added with a dip of the sauce, it goes really well. But the sauce is a tad salty for me though.

Chashu Carpaccio 

Price: $7.00

Served with sliced chashu with abit of spice, onions, and cherry tomatoes. Some of them commented that its a tad spicy, but for me, the taste of the spice wasn't there. I think it depends on individuals tastebuds though. I kinda like this dish.

Garlic Butter Potato

Price: $5.00

This WAS very salty!!!! It feels as though I've eaten a tea spoon of salt! But that aside, the potato are nice though! Just remove the salt, it will be alot more better.

Deep-Fried Toufu With Japanese Sauce

Price: $4.00

I really love Deep-Fried Tofu because of its crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. Not forgetting dipping it with sauces. :)

But for Ramen Champion's deep-fried tofu was kind of disappointing as I feel that the skin of their tofu wasn't that crispy as I thought it would be. I think partially is because it is put in with the Japanese sauce, therefore the Tofu have already soaked in the sauce. Maybe if they separate the deep-fried tofu from the Japanese sauce, it will be better.

Sukuyaki Bun

Price: $3

Absolutely love this dish! The bun is like those normal "KONG BAK" bun, but instead of the usual "kong bak", they used sliced marinated pork belly, which turns out awesome! The good part is that when you eat it with your chopsticks, the fillings doesn't drop out at all!

ANTM Cycle 20 Boys VS Girls Episode 11

YAY! ITS ANOTHER EPISODE OF AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL CYCLE 20 BOYS AND GIRLS!

Its been long and I've been waiting for this episode since MORNING!!! LOL!

So now to summarize this episode! It all began with Alexandra coming back with a social media score of 7.00!

Now that Tyra has revealed that one of the elimiated boys gets to come back as well! Now this shocked everyone!




So between the 3 eliminated boy:
Mike, Phil and Jeremy. Jeremy came back with a social media score of 6.70.




This means, Alexandra and Jeremy are the comeback contender for Cycle 20, and Tyra mentioned that there are NO MORE comeback, so this is it.


The boys are definitely happy that Jeremy came back especially Don and Marvin, but Jourdan on the other hand WAS NOT! She felt that Jeremy was just relying on social media to come back to this competition whereas she has worked her way to where she is now.

WHEN THEY GOT BACK TO THE HOUSE
Chris picked Alexandra to share the GUESS closet with him, and Nina was abit affected by why Chris didn't pick her. But I guess Chris picked Alexandra because he felt that she didn't win anything and that she was eliminated before AND that Nina is able to win best photo herself. So yea.




THEN NEXT, ITS THE CHALLENGE
The contestants have to do a play on green screen. Jourdan and Alexandra did pretty well, Chris and Renee didn't did as good. In the end, Jourdan was the challenge winner.

BACK AT HOME
Chris was pissed off at how dirty Renee and Alexandra was because they didn't do their dishes (wash their dishes), so Chris wrote a note to the both of them, Alexandra was not as offended as Renee as Renee blew up by just shouting VERY negative things to Chris, calling him a nasty person, in his heart and soul.

Nina was abit offended by what Renee said. Chris told Renee off by saying she's not showing him respect like how he did, then STUPID Jourdan had to be a big mouth and salt to the wound by saying "You have to know what love is to respect", this comment made my Jourdan just made Jeremy stood up for Chris.

In defend for Chris, Jeremy shouted across the room, saying "What do you know love is, when you got divorced at 19", this really starts the fire. Jourdan was so raged by this comment made by Jeremy. She started shouting and yelling. It was a fight between Renee, Jourdan and Chris, Jeremy.



Poor, Nina, Marvin, Alexandra, Cory was trying to stop the fight. Don was nowhere to be seen though. Haha!!

AFTER THAT
Cory confronted with Jourdan and told her off, saying as much hurt Jeremy had said to her, Chris is feeling the same too. And Jourdan made the first move by apologizing to Chris, and that made him felt alot better.




AT THE PHOTOSHOOT
The theme of the photoshoot was YOU + FLAW + AWESOME = FLAWSOME. Which is making use of your flaws and turn it into an asset.

They have guests models, Male Supermodel Shaun Ross, and Actress/Model Zendaya. On and off, Jourdan keeps complaining and saying Jeremy is a distraction for her, and Renee kept wanting Chris to go home. (I HATE RENEE)

The ones that stood out was Nina and Don. Their flaws are Big Eyes (NINA), and Skinny Legs (DON).



AT PANEL
Renee was complimented by Tyra as she was given the big forehead (5 Head Crew) flaw to work with. and she got a 10 from Kelly, 9 from Tyra, and a 9 from Rob.

The day before panel, Alexandra was already feeling very sick, and on panel, she felt really dizzy and her vision was blur, so she was sent backstage to have a rest.






In the end, it was Alexandra and Chris who are in the bottom 2. Leavin Chris standing alone at panel, Chris was shivering and didn't dare to look at the results, and Nina, well she was worried that Chris might get eliminated. She's even crying for him!!!






IN THE END
It was Alexandra who got eliminated. Kinda sad though, I mean Alexandra is really a very genuine kind of person, and she's not bitchy at all, UNLIKE RENEE.

Tears of joy after knowing that Chris is safe. Haha!!! 

Nina is so sweet! ♥

Felt a tinge of sadness when they're showing this, its like she's already sick and yet they're telling her she's being eliminated. I kinda feel for her. She's such a nice person.
