True Love @ Neverland Café

Here we are again with another food/café post. It took me long enough, but I finally had the time to sit down proper, open up my editing software(s) and start editing all my overdue pictures taken from my past café hop and oversea travels.

In early November last year, I went on a short getaway with my Poly friends to Bangkok Thailand. Prior to this trip, we had a bit of debate as to where and when is the best time for us to put away our busy work schedule and go on a trip together. But because we're all working adults now, it's pretty hard complementing as some of our schedules may clash. So after much discussion, we settled for a 5 day 4 night trip to Bangkok. But as seen from the title, this post will be focusing on True Love @ Neverland Café instead of my Bangkok travelogue.

Besides all the cheap food and shopping that everyone has heard of. One of the highlight of this trip is to visit True Love Cafe. Located in the middle of a quiet street in the neighbourhood, it is quite inconvenient for you to travel there by foot. What I'll recommend is to book a grab or take a TukTuk there. From my own experience, my friends and I (5 people) we took TukTuk from Platinum Mall to True Love Cafe for about 100-200 Baht? I can't really remember the exact amount but considering the fact we, 5 people squeezed in a TukTuk and travel to the cafe for quite a distance for 200 Baht - $8 SGD, it's pretty much worth it.

DM Chicken 分米鸡

2 DM Chicken

Back in the month of September, my friends (Poly Year 3 Clique) celebrated my belated and Garey's birthday in advance. You know as we grow older, we tend to pretty much used up all the tricks up our sleeves and we sort of got not much creative juices left. That's why when these years we just forgo all the "surprises" and just straight up ask what the birthday boy/girl want for their birthday. This year, my friends manage to find a cool place to hang out and have our dinner at.

Sinpopo Brand

When was the last time I really sat down and write about my visit to a café or a restaurant?!?! I decided to write about this particular one is because I really like the food and aesthetics about this café. How it came about was a few weeks before I visit this place, I was doing my duty in camp with one of my army mate whom I really considered as a REAL foodie. He loves exploring places in search of finding good food. So as we were resting I asked if he has any recommendation for good food for friends to hang out and chill. This was when he whipped out his phone and showed me some of the places via instagram and google (THANK YOU INTERNET) where he considered to have quite prominent food.

Timbre+

A few weeks ago I paid a visit to the highly raved Timbre+ ever since its opening. I've heard many people talking about it that its like the new "hipster" place to visit. lol.

Located at One North, its definitely a place not everyone would wanna visit as its super isolated. The moment when my friend told me timbre+ is at one north station I was like; WHERE THE FUCK IS THAT?!?! LOL!

A P4162126

How to get to timbre+

Once you got off from One-North station at circle line. Exit through the place where you can see *Each a Cup*, you know, the bubble tea shop. Tap out from there and turn right. Follow the pathway then go up the escalator.

After which, once you're facing outside, turn left and walk all the way straight and you'll end up at the cross junction. Turn right, cross the traffic light and walk straight ahead, you'll then see timbre+. I hope my instructions was clear enough. LOL! If you still can't understand I guess the best solution is to cab? LOLOL!!!

On The Inside

The good thing about timbre+ is that its FULLY sheltered, so you don't have to be constantly worried whether you'll get drenched halfway while having your meals there. What I heard of is that during the noon time, its like a normal hawker center mixed restarant kinda place, and once its at night/evening time, the place will be turned into a drinking place. Sort of like your normal timbre place. Live bands will be there to entertain your ears every Monday, Wednesday - Saturday. For more information you can click here to read up about the timings and the genre of music which will be played on the specific day. --> timbre+ Music

The Food

Not sure to say whether there's too much variety of food to choose from or just nothing catches my eye. LOL. Another friend of mine was like saying he don't know what to it cuz everything is like AT YOUR FACE!!! LOL! Come to think of it, there's actually a lot of variety la, there's like pizza, bak kut teh, wanton mee, ban mian, american grill, skewers, snacks, and even dancing crab!!! SO YEA. Don't go there and tell people YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT TO EAT CUZ THERE'S FUCKING LOTS OF THINGS TO CHOOSE FROM!!!

Okay so anyway, at that point of time, I wasn't ready to make my life's biggest decision so I ended up choosing American Grill. (BASIC I KNOW!!!) Reason being, I don't want to let people think that I travel all the way to One-North just to eat wtf a bowl of Ban Mian which I could easily get it at my house's hawker center?!?! So to prevent myself from losing face I ate the Big Bern's Beef Cheeseburger with seasoned Fries and Coleslaw. It was my first time eating Big Bern's so I didn't know the seasoned fries tastes so FUCKING SPICY! No joke, if you can't take spice, just choose the normal fries instead, or any other sides. JUST NOT THE SEASONED CAJUN FRIES!!!

My friends had the other one (I forgot what was it called) and another friend of mine had the Wong Kee Wanton Noodles which he queued 20mins for. In the end, he was led to much disappointment cuz it wasn't worth the 20mins of his life. LOL!

A P4162092

We also had the wings from Two Wings, coated with salted egg yolk sauce. So weird, is it just me or Two Wings used to have all their wings in Joints part, but at timbre+ its served in 3 wings and 3 drumstick.

A P4162118

And of course, everyone needs a drink to quench their thirst after much eating from all them heaty and sinful food. A cup of sugar cane with lemon for only $1.30.

A P4162099

What makes timbre+ so special is that they have this self returning tray system whereby you return the tray after you're done eating and you can get a dollar in return. Smart right?!

This encourages consumers to ownself return their trays and at the same time keeping the place clean and helping the cleaners to have lesser job to do. My friends and I were like telling each other its really good job opportunity. Like you just have to return 10 trays and you already get $10. You don't even need to work for 1hour and you can already earn 10 bucks. Imagine just staying at timbre+ the whole entire day just to return the trays for people, you can be a instant millionaire already. HAHAHAHAHA!!! #Cheaptrills

After having to digest the food and  a few weeks to think about it, I've come to a conclusion, its worth the visit once or twice but not frequently. Secondly, the food there wasn't really THAT nice as what was raved on the internet and social media. Maybe I'll visit once again but this time in the evening where there are live bands playing??? Anyways, most of the things are less than $10, and it would be good if you go with a group of friends, order plenty of stuff and share among one another. :)

GRUB Café

A P2061029

Unlike any other cafe's, GRUB is a standalone cafe located at Bishan Park 1. With only trees and ponds surrounding the area, its definitely a good place to hang out if you're looking for somewhere quiet to chill alone or with your friends.

My friend and I was deciding on where to meet so I suggested GRUB since its quite impromptu and its near our home as well, sooo we decided on that place. The time we went was around 2pm so at that time GRUB was serving their brunch menu.

We ordered 2 appetizers; Mentaiko Fries ($9), and Fried Chicken Wings 6 Pieces ($8)
Mains; GRUB Breakfast plate w/ Pork thyme sausage ($16),  3-Cheese Pasta Grain ($12)

Overall its quite filling, and it tastes better as compared to the dinner menu IMO. Cuz previously I came and I had their dinner menu, the burgers and patty were quite dry.

After our brunch, we walked around the park to take some photos and then its home sweet home. Come to think of it. I really enjoy spending time with my friends, catching up with each other's life. I mean, after high school/college, we went our own separate ways. Some went on to work full time, while the boys are now serving their 2 years of national service. Sometimes I wonder how we'll be like 10 years down the road...

Coffeemin- Singapore's First Time Café

Hi. I finally have the time to sit down, edit my photos and write a proper blogpost. My life is now revolving around army and more army that I barely have time for my own. Every weekend I would just be like resting on my bed or meeting my friends. Unlike the past where I have plenty of time and I could blog like every other day. Furthermore, my Lenovo laptop crashed and that explains why the lack of updates. Yesterday, my dad bought me a Macbook Pro and YAY! I can finally blog again. I think I'll post some pictures of my new Macbook Pro next time.

P/S: Sometimes, I really miss writing on this space. I miss taking part in blogging competition and feeling the adranaline rush!!!

So anyways, today's update is about a cafe that I visited a few weeks back. The cafe is called Coffeemin. Located at Clark Quay Central, it is pretty accessible if you'd ask me.

You can use all their facilities there (Xbox, Pool Table, Computers, Board Games etc), snacks and drinks are also provided as well. Furthermore, its ALL FREE FLOW! In addition, you're also allowed to buy your own food and consume over at the cafe! (If you're intending to stay there for quite some time lah!!! Like to study or something?!?!)

Overall, I really enjoyed myself there. I was playing Taken and UNO Stacko with my friends until we almost forgot that we're there for 3 hours already!!! What's more, I'm there constantly munching on their cookies and biscuits. LOL?!?!

They also have another outlet located at Suntec City Mall, I found out that Noelle also visited Coffeemin before and she went to the one at Suntec. You can click on the link to her post for more info. http://www.noellemikazuki.com/2014/08/coffeemin-suntec-city-review.html

Something New

[Food Review]

Hi. Its been a long time since I did a food review. This time round its a brand/restaurant that everyone is familiar with. McDonald's.

Ever since I was a kid I ♥ McDonald's that I had their chicken McNuggets almost every single day. As I grew older, I tend to like something with more flavor such as McSpicy. I still remembered clearly that McDonald's used to sell something like Nasi Lemak which costs only $3++ or so. Many don't remember but that product had been stuck to my mind since childhood. Sadly they removed that product from their menu already. So when I was asked to do a review on McDonald's latest promotional product, I quickly agreed to it.

INTRODUCING
AA PC053374_副本

McDonald's latest creations.
- Beef Clubhouse Burger
- Chicken Clubhouse Burger
- Truffle Flavored Shaker Fries
- Red Velvet Mcflurry with Oreo Cookie Bits

Moving on to the review. Many people had pretty high expectations for their new product, but for me, I feel that its better to expect less so that the disappointment won't be that much.

A PC053385_副本

Red Velvet Mcflurry
To be honest, it tastes pretty much like the original Mcflurry, and it costs much more. So yeap.

A PC053376_副本 A PC053375_副本

Beef/Chicken Clubhouse Burgers
I love the fact that McDonald's keep adding different things to their current product so kudos for that. For their new clubhouse burgers, they added Bacon and Melted Cheese on top of the usual lettuce and tomatoes. A little something different compared to the other burgers on their menu.

Truffle Flavored Shaker Fries
Well, this was the one that got many people talking about it. The smell was good but it tastes like Garlic/Onion Maggie Powder. Many of my friends have commented that its VERY BAD!!! True enough. But what do you expect something that comes out from a pack of sachet????!!!!
